Panther was contracted to remove approximately 1,500 yards of soil and debris from a proposed residential healthcare site located in Jamesburg, New Jersey. Panther prepared a site-specific health and safety plan, conducted a public utility mark out and evaluated drawings to determine the possibilities of encountering any private site utilities. Panther then sampled the material and obtained waste approvals in advance of mobilizing to the site. Once completed, Panther’s team mobilized to the site and constructed a temporary berm/diversion trench to minimize water run off into the excavation and fenced the site. Panther segregated and loaded the soil and soil/trash mixture onto permitted solid waste trucks. During the excavation process, our group excavated 3’ into the water table without pumping water. The wet soils were staged on an upland area to gravity dewater the material. Once sufficiently dry, it was either loaded out directly or mixed with other dry contaminated soil to further condition it before shipment to a recycling facility is permitted to accept contaminated soil. Once the removal action was completed and the site Engineer provided clearance to backfill, Panther imported 800 cy certified clean backfill, and restored the area to the necessary grades. Panther provided compaction testing to confirm the areas will be compacted to 95% of proctor, as specified. When groundwater interfered with the backfilling operation, Panther utilized stone to bridge the water in advance of using fill. The project was completed essentially without off site water disposal for the excavation activities. 1,040 SF of sheeting was installed to assist the onsite construction company with the ability to construct an elevator pit within the perched groundwater, again without off site water disposal.
